About

New dynamics for centralised system for collection of administrative data are emerging fast in the ecosystem of any initiative undertaken for office automation to make sure strategy, innovation and sustainability. Keeping in mind the developments happening in areas that are focusing largely on increasing fairness and efficiency in the use of administrative data, the IITG Office Automation started working to harmonise and lessen use of IIT Guwahati resources since 2006 with an involved support from Prof. Gautam Barua, erstwhile Director of IIT Guwahati. The primary mission of the central applications portal is:

  • Ensuring an efficient and systematic administrative data receiving processes.
  • Providing better transparency of the utilised administrative data.
  • Enhancing rationalised data requisitions and advanced data usage.

While forwarding above objectives the IITG Office Automation also feels that to encourage a paperless office environment and to de-stress present pressure on office resources more, the following paradigmatic ventures are rightfully resonated:

  • Standardising certain phases of the centralised administrative data collection process.
  • Creating a base for a fluent and efficient data receiving process.
  • Overcoming the challenges of changing disharmonised practices related to administrative data collection

The objective of this new initiative, started as a project, is to automate various office related works of IITG namely student administration, staff administration, faculty administration, staff and faculty leave system, online recruitment for staff and faculty, payroll system, E-Payment, APAR, idcard, electricity biling, voluntary donations, budget cum purchase process etc.
In future, the Office Automation Team hopes to bring a few more new applications to fulfil the prime mission of automating the entire IITG office related works.
